How Much Does A Mobile App Cost In 2017?

Do I really need a mobile app for my business? How much will it cost to develop a mobile application? What will be the impact of supplementing my business with a mobile application?

After seeing the surge in mobile applications, most businesses have shifted their focus on developing a mobile strategy. Although every business is trying to climb up the bandwagon; desperately seeking to incorporate mobile applications into their growth strategy, most businesses still fail to conceive the work and resources required to build a suitable mobile application.

One underlying cause for this conundrum is the fact that the mobile app development industry has emerged not too long ago. Most businesses have not gained complete familiarity with the process of developing apps.

Secondly, the industry is hugely scattered. Agencies, development houses, freelancers; a number of vendors are offering mobile application development services. Although all stand qualified for the job, it is critically important to explore options at hand.

Mobile Application: An opportunity up for grasps

Mobile Apps are changing the way people interact, work, play, shop and carry out their different tasks. And the engagement people show with these apps is immense. From online shopping to socializing, from emails to managing tasks, from education to gaming, mobile apps have been revolutionizing consumers’ lives. And this revolution has brought great opportunities for businesses in 2017.

But, how much does an App really cost?

After spending more than 10 years in the industry, our experts estimate a mobile app between $50,000 to $150,000, depending on the operating system, infrastructure, design, and features. Usually, iOS-based apps cost more than Android ones. On the other hand, gaming, payment, banking, and e-commerce apps are more expensive due to their complex infrastructure and greater security protocols.

Cost Breakdown for a Mobile App Development

Well, it depends on a number of factors i.e. the visual architecture, the design, the features, etc. Normally an app goes through a series of processes before it is ready for launch.

  1. Wire-framing:

Initially, developing a website requires developing wireframes. Wireframes are the visual architect that demonstrates the layout of the app; how will it look, what will go on which page, etc. Normally, several wireframes are created for a single page before it can be finalized. Depending on the number of pages you want for your app, creating wireframes can cost up to $1,000. However, simpler apps with no more than 2 or 3 pages may cost less than $500 in wire-framing.

  2. Designing:

Once the architect is finalized, you need to get an aesthetic design that can render an appealing appearance to your website. The better your app looks the more engaging it will be for users. Designs for gaming apps with great visuals can be as costly as $10,000. Contrarily simpler apps can be designed in as less as $1,000.

  3. Developing:

This phase includes developing functionalities using codes and it may require a single developer or a team depending on the features you want in your website to complete the project. Apps with extensive features can cost you between $1,000 to $100,000

  4. Quality Analysis:

Once finished, an app needs to be tested for bugs and errors. A comprehensive quality analysis can reveal the flaws within the app. Depending on the feature it may require a $20,000 – $30,000 to complete testing of an app.

A final estimate for developing a mobile app development can only be made if you are clear about your goals and objectives. Depending on your needs, you can hire a freelancer, a specialized agency or in-house developers. With growing complexity, the price for launching mobile application rises.

Although most of the businesses find it critically important to have their own mobile app, after realizing the actual budget they are left in astonishment. To avoid any surprises and obtain expert advice, Get in touch.
